The October Mexico House build was a great success. Lifes were changed and Christ was glorified!

Thank you to everyone who gave of their time and/or money to support the recent house build in Mexico. It went very smoothly and the recipient family was extremely grateful. Mrs. Juarez’s remarks at the end of the day were particularly touching. She reflected on her inability to repay the gifts to those that gave them; however, she feels blessed in that now she has the opportunity to help the local villagers in so many ways (teaching job skills, reading literacy, multiple languages, self sufficiency).
We were able to provide this family of four with a two story, 270 sq. ft. house, including a solar panel and LED lighting, water cistern, sink, propane gas grill (and tank), porch awning, outside table, and an outhouse! As well as many smaller, but just as meaningful gifts such as rice & beans, blankets, backpacks filled with crayons & books (yes, in Spanish), pillows, and both the girls’ favorites – a stuffed dog and stuffed bear.
We were all touched by the things that we saw throughout the day, especially a group of 4 children – 3 girls and 1 boy – whose parents were away and would not return for at least another couple days. The oldest girl was 9 years old and she was carrying an infant (her sister) with her all day. They lived in a shoddy shack with a dirt floor and nothing more than a few blankets and two candles, and no apparent food to be seen. We were able to muster up a table for them, made from our scrap lumber, along with several bottles of water. One of the guys on the build left his sleeping bag for them, and we enlisted the local pastor to stop by over the next few days to check in on them until the parents had returned. Very sad.
So many people had a hand in bringing this project to fruition, and I am sure that we would be unable to name each of you. So in the absence of that, THANK YOU!!

Mexico House Build - September 2008
We're so excited about our September house build. This month we fabricated our 15th or 16th house (starting to lose count). In October the house will be transported to Baja Mexico and then put together in less than 8 hours time. The house goes to the Jaurez family. You can watch this video of the scouting trip to Mexico and you can also read the family profile here.
One of the very exciting things that's happening this time is we've been given a great opportunity to partner with volunteers from Microsoft. One of the regular volunteers with POH works at Microsoft and through his sharing generated enough interest that a group of volunteers from the the company pooled their own money together to provide for donations to completely fund the house build and now they're volunteering their time to build the house. What an exciting opportunity for POH and for the these individuals to bless a family.
